Linback is Back!
Laura Linback, winner of the 2009 HITS Ocala $100,000 DeLuca Toyota Grand Prix presented by Great American
Insurance, is back in town and ready to rumble.
Just less than one year ago, Laura Linback was the talk of the town when she piloted Woodrun's As Di Villagana to victory in the HITS Ocala $100,000 Deluca Toyota Tundra Grand Prix, presented by Great American Insurance. It was Linback's first grand prix victory of the 2009 circuit.
"That was definitely the highlight of our year," Linback said during an interview from HITS Ocala this week. "We went on and won some other grand prixs throughout the year, but the hundred thousand was really exciting."
Linback has returned to Ocala with the family-owned bay Hanoverian stallion, ready to defend their title and pick up a few more.
"He's doing great and ready to go," she said of As Di Villagana. "He's such a special, special horse. You know, we just go in every class trying to win and have fun. It was 2 degrees in Chicago when we left, and the horses haven't really been showing since early October, so this is wonderful. We love getting them out on track and having space."
Laura Linback, her husband Troy, and 8-year-old son Owen make their home in Mundelein, Il., with the Woodrun family farm. Laura's mother, Nancy Gorman, still rides hunters at age 72, and her 18-year-old niece, Hannah Gorman, will be showing in children's jumpers at HITS Ocala.
