By John Sotomayor

Former U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team member Darren Chiacchia will host the Second Annual Team Chiacchia Horse Sale with a series of free entertaining and educational events from Sat., Jan. 30 - Sun., Feb. 7, 2010. The events take place at Team Chiacchia South; 6650 N.W. 35th Street, Ocala, Fla., - just south of Horse & Hounds off Hwy 27 and 80th Avenue.

"I am passionate about the development of sports horses here in America" Chiacchia said. "We have assembled quite an amazing group of horses. I get so excited when I can bring together fellow horsemen to really take the time to enjoy and appreciate quality young horses as well as the learning opportunities. I am really looking forward to it."

Team Chiacchia developed a series of events for the enjoyment and appreciation of all.  Beginning with a free jumping demonstration and clinic of horses Jan. 30 at 2 p.m., Chiacchia and his staff will demonstrate the "how tos" and the "Dos and don'ts" of free jumping. This is followed by a wine and cheese party at 6 p.m. sponsored by Windham Hill.

On Jan. 31, the team makes first presentations of all riding horses on the hour, every hour from 1 to 4 p.m. The day concludes with a barbecue - everyone welcomed, sponsored by Spaulding Lab.

By appointment, all horses are available between Feb. 1-Feb. 5 for trial and/or lessons, vetting and evaluations.

A conformation clinic presentation by Brad Kerbs, President of the American Trakehner Association, will take place Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.  Kerbs is a sport horse judge who has graded more than 8,000 sport horses globally. Special guest Kirsten Johnson, part owner of Kesmarc Equine Rehab Center, will also present specifically on the diagnostics of conformation as it relates to sport horses.

Final presentations of all sale horses begins at 2 p.m. with a free jumping and at liberty demonstration followed by a wine and cheese party sponsored by Kesmarc.

Final presentation of all riding horses will be Feb. 6 from 1-4 p.m. At 5 p.m., Ocala equine celebrities will participate in fun classes such as bareback knock down and out; Cloverleaf barrel race; egg and spoon race; and more.

At 6 p.m., Team Chiacchia hosts the Wrap-up/New Owner Party with barbecue, video presentation and of course - the Super Bowl!

"After the success of last year's premier sale we are extremely excited about the sale this year," said Lisa Marong, business manager of Team Chiacchi. "We have great activities and educational presentations equally engaging for the seasoned equine community and those newcomers interested in horses."
