And the winner is...

Paula Carver of Mims, Fla., was at a miniature horse sale at the Ocala Equestrian Complex this past spring when she heard about the Horse Capital Digest Cutest Foal Search. Her granddaughter, Tabitha Kerr, brought her magazines containing the rules and specs, and the two decided to enter.

They decided on the photo Carver had taken of Prime Time Miss Lilly, out of Poe's Petite and Prime Time Prosperity. Prime Time Ranch owns the miniature horse foal, which was born May 26, 2007, and bred by Ann Holeywell.
"I love this photo because it shows her prissy personality," Carver said. "The horses were out running around and carrying on one day, and I grabbed the camera." And Carver is glad she did. The image she captured that day is now worth $250 in horse tack and supplies, thanks to a gift certificate donated by Tack Tavern of Ocala. Getting the Votes
The Horse Capital Digest Cutest Foal Search is an online photo contest, where readers and friends cast a vote for their favorite image. Voting only takes a second, but each person may only vote once. This year's contest was extremely close the winner received only three votes more than the second-place entry.
"I called all my friends and told them about the contest," Carver said. "And even on the Yahoo Groups, I sent out messages about the contest and kind of said, Hint, hint, that one is my photo!" It was tough, though, because there were so many cute foals on the site.

For a Good Cause
This year's $250 gift certificate to Tack Tavern will be spent on items for the horse rescue operation, H.O.R.S.E., Inc., according to Carver, who runs the 501(c) nonprofit along with her family. "We always need funds for items at the rescue, and that's what I had in mind when I wanted to enter the contest," she said. "Thanks for the good news we will make good use of the prize!"
